Here is a list of Do's and Dont's

 Dos

  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.
  • Wear comfortable clothing: Choose clothes that are easy to change out of, or are comfortable, for relaxation during the treatment.
  • Communicate openly: Be prepared to discuss your skin concerns, goals, and any allergies or medications that you are using, topical or systemic.
  • Bring a list of your at-home products: This helps your esthetician understand your current routine and tailor the facial to your needs.
  • Avoid caffeine: Skip caffeine-rich drinks beforehand, as they can make you feel jittery and less relaxed during the treatment.

Don'ts

  • Don't exfoliate: Avoid any exfoliating treatments, scrubs, or products with active ingredients like retinoids for several days to a week before your facial.
  • Don't wax or shave: Avoid hair removal services on your face in the 24-48 hours before your facial, as they can leave your skin sensitive.
  • Don't get other treatments: Avoid scheduling other aggressive skincare treatments, such as chemical peels or laser therapy, close to your facial appointment.
  • Don't sunbathe or tan: Stay out of the sun and avoid tanning beds for at least a week prior to your facial, as sun-exposed or sunburned skin is too sensitive for treatment.
  • Don't use harsh products: Avoid using strong active ingredients like AHAs, BHAs, or retinoids in the week leading up to your facial.
  • Don't overdo DIY treatments: Avoid intense home-based treatments that can over-exfoliate or irritate your skin before the professional service.

These are called contraindications and there are a few. Here is a standard list; but in some instances a facial can still be performed, it just makes us more cautious. In most of the cases below we will be able to; we would need to adjust products and protocols.
